Bennett, Bigelow & Leedom is experienced in counseling health plans in complying with Washington insurance law and regulations. This work involves assisting health maintenance organizations ("HMOs") and Washington health care services contractors ("HCSCs") in licensing and qualification matters, compliance issues, market conduct examinations, contracting, enrollee rights and grievances and related matters before the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner. We have also represented health plans in connection with health plan mergers, advised health plans (both insured and employer-sponsored self-funded plans) and providers on regulated aspects of health care contracting issues. Our work also naturally involves advise and counseling about health information privacy and security issues arising under HIPAA, Graham-Leach-Bliley and related laws.
